my Birthday Recipe Share

Today is my birthday! Since I was a little girl I have collected all things Gone With The Wind. We even named a jam after Peach Tree Street. So in honor of my birthday here is a recipe I created to share with you all!

Georgia Peach Trifle

A Gone With The Wind Inspired Recipe

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1/2 cup sugar

Few grains sea-salt

2 cups milk

Three egg yolks

Half teaspoon vanilla extract

2T of Peach Preserves (We use Preserving Goodness’s Peach Tree Jam)

Stale sponge cake

2 cups of sliced fresh peaches


To make custard sauce:

Combine cornstarch, 1/4 cup of sugar and salt. Stir in milk gradually. Cook over hot water until slightly thickened, stirring constantly. Beat egg yolks; stir in hot milk mixture slowly. Cook over hot water and tell him mixture coats spoon, stirring constantly. Cool. Add vanilla extract and peach preserves to complete the custard.


To assemble Trifle:

Slice sponge cake then. Add remaining 1/4 cup sugar to Peaches. Arranged cake and peaches in alternate layers. Top with custard sauce. Chill. Makes 2 to 6 servings.
